Ocean Gold Joins Local Fishermen With Benefit Dinner For One Of Their Own
Jim Hoff Benefit Crab & Spaghetti Dinner held this Saturday at Westport VFW

WESTPORT, WASH. – February 24, 2010 – This Saturday, February 27 from 3pm to 8pm the community of Westport is coming together at the Westport VFW for a Crab and Spaghetti Dinner in support of a local fisherman, Jim Hoff. Hoff, who is married with two children, was recently hospitalized in Virginia Mason for collapsed lungs and heart failure. While he is home recovering now, his family is faced with a stack of medical bills totaling nearly $500,000.

“We’ve all known Jim for years,” explained Leann Pugsley, the personnel manager at Ocean Gold Seafoods and one of the organizers for the fundraiser. “We take care of our own here in Westport and while we know we won’t be able to make much of a dent in half a million dollars, we can hopefully raise enough money to help with a couple mortgage payments and groceries for the family.”

Local fishermen are donating more than 500 pounds of crab to the fundraiser and Ocean Gold has agreed to donate labor and materials to process the crab into sections.
The fundraiser is open to the public and will charge $20 for adults and $10 for children. All proceeds go directly to the family.
