Clean Beaches and Full Stomachs

Yesterday, July 5, Ocean Companies joined the community for a beach cleanup and BBQ at Westhaven State Park. The Beach Cleanup effort extended down to Grayland with more than 60 volunteers. Our site at Westhaven saw more than 20 bags of garbage collected from the beach. After careful sorting, we pulled out another bag for recycling. July 5th Beach Cleanup

The annual post-July 4 beach cleanup is scheduled for Tuesday July 5 from 9am – noon in Westport and Grayland beaches. Community groups, Twin Harbor State Park, and local businesses are joining to encourage everyone to clean up the debris that often gets left behind from fireworks, bonfires and other celebrations on the beach over the holiday weekend. Sadly, Rebbecca passed away suddenly this morning, June 9, after a month of bravely fighting for her life. Rebbecca was one of our own. A much-loved and valuable team member at the Ocean Companies, tragedy struck in early May when she was shot six times in her own home. 25 tons of debris cleaned from beaches on Earth Day, South Beach Bulletin, May 5, 2011

On Saturday, April 23, volunteers up and down Washington’s coast converged on the beach for the annual Earth Day Beach Cleanup lead by the Washington CoastSavers. Nearly 1,200 volunteers in total took part in the event, collecting 25 tons of debris and nearly 200 cubic feet of recycling off our state beaches. Great News: Far Fewer global fish stocks are collapsed or overfished than thought, says UW study

Great Time at the Earth Day Beach Cleanup

Ocean Companies took part in the state-wide Earth Day beach cleanup with the Washington CoastSavers on Saturday, April 23. More than 150 volunteers showed up for the Westport cleanup and Ocean Companies ran the recycling booth, sorting and washing recyclable products found on the beach in partnership with LeMay who provided the recycling containers and transportation to the recycling center.
