Ocean Companies Safety Tip of the Week

Often called the silent killer, carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless, colorless gas created when fuels (such as gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, propane, oil, and methane) burn incompletely. In the home, heating and cooking equipment that burn fuel can be sources of carbon monoxide. If you hear the carbon monoxide detector go off; exit the building and head to your emergency meeting point and check in with your lead. When the alarm subsides, wait at least 15 minutes before entering the building.
