Ocean Companies Safety Tip of the Week – Thanksgiving Edition

When preparing your Thanksgiving dinner, remember to use a separate cutting board for your meat and veggies to prevent cross contamination. Wash your cutting boards and knives often in hot soapy water. Cook your turkey and stuffing in separate containers and cook both to 165°F to be fully cooked and safe. A raw ham should be cooked to 160°F and a fully cooked ham to 140°F. Never, never put a frozen turkey into a deep fryer! Last year, turkey fryers were responsible for 62 fires and several injuries in the United States. For any question about cooking turkey, call 1-800-BUTTERBALL (1-800-288-8327) throughout November and December.

Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!
